Blind Pond Road Special Use Permit Application

Letter Writing Campaign Supporting Village Incorporation Law Update

Our organization protected Narrowsburg's Beaver Brook neighborhood from a non-conforming and poorly planned overdevelopment by advocating for adherence to zoning laws and the recently updated Town Comprehensive Plan. Focused on a Special Use Permit for the former summer camp on Blind Pond Road, we utilized strategies such as roadside signs and letter campaigns. With community support, we hired a lawyer, advisor, engineer, and land use planner, commissioning two key reports. These efforts led to the successful relisting of the Blind Pond Road property for sale, showcasing the impact of our collective commitment. Our ongoing goal is to ensure the property's use aligns with zoning laws, the Town Comprehensive Plan, and poses no threat to local wildlife or our peaceful way of life.

Continuing our commitment to environmental and community protection, we advocated for revising the outdated Village Incorporation Law through a letter-writing campaign supporting bills S.7537 and S.7538. Swiftly mobilizing, we informed our community about the significance of expressing support for these bills by writing to Governor Hochul. We had only a week to make our voices heard and we are hopeful our legislator was receptive. The speedy organization of this campaign would not have been possible without Catskill Mountainkeeper.
